Descrizione: The Sunugal socio-cultural association and the Fate Artigiane cooperative won, at the beginning of 2016, a public call for the restoration and revalorization of Cascina Casottello. The building is located in the south-eastern outskirts of Milan, an area with several occupational and social problems, characterized also by buildings and environmental degradation. The partner associations aim to start a process of territorial and architectural regeneration, reinterpreting the identity of the Cascina through creative, artistic and social proposals, driven by the active participation of citizens. Cascina Casottello will be a place open to the neighborhood and to the city, an instrument of dialogue, meetings and discussions, the link between collective resources and social needs.

Tipologia di lavoro: Cascina Casottello is under development. The activities will be focused on the renovation of the interior rooms. Moreover, volunteers will garden, both in the Cacina and in the area neareby, to have a positive impact also on the neighborhood.

Parte studio: About two mornings will be devoted to a detailed presentation of Cascina Casottello, the project, the organizations involved in it and the activities already ongoing. In particular, the study part will mainly concern the topic of social inclusion, paying particular attention to the tools used within the Cascina, such as music and theatre, to overcome marginality and poverty issues in the neighborhood.

Alloggio: Volunteers will stay in mixed-gender rooms, sleeping on camping-beds or mattresses. There are shared bathrooms equipped with a shower. The Cascina has a kitchen and volunteers will organize the meals in collaboration with the local activists. There is the wifi network and telephone coverage. Towels and bed sheets will not be provided.

Requisiti None. But we won't disapprove carpenters!

Ubicazione approssimata: Cascina Casottello is located in Milan, in the south-eastern part of the city, very close to the underground station "Porto di Mare", yellow line.

Note: Cascina Casottello is just 15 minutes by metro from Milano city center; cultural visits and entertainment are guaranteed.
