Liguria Pride

Descrizione: In addition to its regular activities related to the promotion of gender and LGBTQIA+ rights (such as theatre, book presentations, workshops, debates), Liguria Rainbow committee organizes an annual Pride Village with a final march. The volunteers will have the chance to be actively involved in the logistics and the organization of the Liguria Pride Village and march through participating in the preparation of workshops and other activities (67 events in 2019) dedicated to promote gender education in Genoa and to raise awareness among the local community by sharing international
Tipologia di lavoro: The volunteers will have a short training on gender education and nonviolent communication. After that, their main work will be related to logistical support and promotion (not just social media) of the Pride. In the week before the parade, the volunteers will support its planning and promotion while contributing to the organization of workshops and taking part in the pride village activities ( debates, activities with children, the tour of LGBT+ arts in Genoa, etc.). The work will be mostly in the afternoons and the evenings. Due to the numerous activities concentrated during the Pride village week, the free days of the volunteers will be at the beginning and at the end of the workcamp. The most intense day will be Saturday, June 13th - the day of the march.
Parte studio: The study part will be dedicated to the following topics: Gender education (through non-formal education methods); Nonviolent communication; workshop from the gender realities tool kit "free to be me and you" (link here) Presentation of LGBT+ art in the region of Liguria, including a book and a website created in 2019 in order to present various pieces of art in the city. Various book presentations and a tour of Genoa.
Alloggio: The accommodation will be in the historical centre of Genoa in the new Liguria rainbow house. The conditions will be very basic – the volunteers will sleep in a big gender-mixed room and they have to bring their own sleeping bag and camping mattress. There will be one bathroom with shower. Towels are not provided. All the meals, except breakfast, will take place at the restaurant of the village. Vegan/vegetarian options available. Free wifi is available in some parts of the city but not in the accommodation.
Lingua: Since not everyone in Genoa speaks English well, some knowledges of Spanish or Italian would facilitate communication. However, the activities are planned to be followed easily also by non-Italian speakers.
Requisiti Some previous LGBTQIA+ knowledge is desirable. Motivational letter required (Why do you want to join LGBTQIA+ village and pride? What is your experience with LGBTQIA+ and what is the situation in your /community? Are you already an LGBT+ activist? If yes, where and how? How can you contribute to the camp and our community? videomaker or other skills?) Bring material for presentations from home.
Ubicazione approssimata: Genoa (which has a small airport). Airport closest Milano and Bergamo (connected by bus) and Pisa (2 hours train). Last year we were able to get a discount from a famous bus company for village and pride we will try this year too so please write to us. Two main train station are Genova Piazza Principe and Brignole from there and bus stops the camp is just a few metros stops away.
