Social 'Smile' Restaurant for poor people - Ho Chi Minh

Description: Smile Restaurant was inaugurated in Oct 2012 by HCMC Charity Foundation in order to offer special meal with privileged price for poor students, immigrant & local workers in the area of HCMC. The foundation does fundraising to have enough budget, in order to be able to sell a quality meal with the cost of 2000 VND (about less than 10 USD cent).
Type of Work: Volunteers will get involved in project activities in order to prepare good meals for poor people. Volunteers who have experiences in cooking can join the cooking team.
Most common work are:

Preparing cooking ingredients, washing vegetables or setting up the tables.

Serving food to customers.

Cleaning the tables and washing dishes afterwards.
Working time: 8 A.M. – 1 P.M., from Monday to Friday
Study Theme: Social Welfare
The project aims to provide affordable meals to poor people. Beyond that, this is also a learning experience for participants of the project: they will learn to appreciate what they have and the happiness of doing small things for other people. At the end, everyone, the participants and the customers can all smile.
Accommodation: Volunteers will stay in a dorm, sharing rooms with other volunteers. Maximum of 7 - 9 people per room, in 9 bunk beds. The house has Toilets & hot showers, and ceiling fans. The house has TV, free WIFI,fridges,and cooking facilities.
Language: Country language is Vietnamese
Requirements: -Volunteers must be 18 years old or more. -Volunteers should have motivation to work on this project: Hard working, enthusiasm or pay attention. -If volunteers has experience on cooking or was chef, they are very welcomed

Notes: Insurance : VPV does not provide any kind of insurance. It is volunteers’ responsibility to buy insurance that covers the whole period of his/her stay in Vietnam.
