ABAREN Community Secondary School
Description: Abaren Community located near the riverside has suffered a great deal of educational facilities that can cope with the trends of the population. The existing Publc Primary School has dilapdiated solid structure. Also, there is no secondary school in the community. Children has to move far away to a neighbouring village by bus or going on foot to cover kilometres of distance to obtain educatiion. The inhabitants are eagerly in need of the structure and their combine efforts with the volunteer on the project will further develop the community. A borehole would be provided in the community as part of the project.
Type of Work: Construction of classroom blocks. Moulding of blocks and setting the structure with the help of village community youths and leaders. The leisure time will be to counsel and create awareness on health hazards and water diseases.
Study Theme: Education & Community Health
Accommodation: Near the School project, volunteers will stay together in Accommodation provided in a School classroom within the project community or Guest Houses. There are latrines and bathrooms. Cooking will be done in turns on fire wood in a separate classroom within the school. There will be a prescribed menu
Language: English is the official camp language
Requirements: Working clothes, repellants, tools and gloves, sleeping bag, and water purifying tablets. Games like chess, playing cards and musical instruments are welcomed.
Approximate Location: Abaren Village Community, Close to Mowe Town and about 4km to the major express in Owode Obafemi Local Government Area of Ogun State
