Description: This is the very first workcamp held in Fuchimyo village. The village is in Mima city. Its steep slope farming field is considered so rare in the world that it’s one of the candidates for the world agricultural heritage of the United Nations. Local people such as "The Nakamura village Preservation Group” stood up for preserving the village way of life and precious farming heritage. In 2017, "The Farmer's Restaurant FUWARI" was opened. There they serve delicious meals featuring the vegetables of local farmers. This gave the villagers a place to eat out and an opportunity to revitalize the community that is facing depopulation and aging.
Type of Work: Support picking and planting seasonal vegetables on a steep slope farming field. The volunteers will also be pulling weeds on the roads and fields in the village.In order to revitalize the region, through not only agriculture but also tourism, they are trying to invent a program which allows people to stay in the village long-term.
Study Theme: Learning a steep slope farming system on a 30 degrees hill and a movement to reconstruct a marginal hamlet.
Accommodation: Homestay at a house in Fuchimyo village. Meals will be cooked by volunteers by turns. Sleeing bag is necessary.
Language: English, Japanese is also welcomed!

Approximate Location: Fuchimyo village is in Mima-city, Tokushima prefecture and registered as an Agricultural Heritage site in Japan in 2016.
