Care for children today, make a better world tomorrow
Description: This enlighten project within Volunteering Program is organized by the SCI contact group in Kyrgyzstan in cooperation with Kyrgyzstan Branch of the international non-profit charity organization called Taiwan Fund for Children and Families (TFCF). In Kyrgyzstan, number of households with incomes below subsistence level in urban area is 29% and in rural area is 34%. (www.stat.kg, http://stat.kg/kg/statistics/uroven-zhizni-naseleniya/). Also, there are many Kyrgyz origin migrants from Tajikistan in close areas of Tokmok, whose living conditions are poor and the children are lack of much opportunities. Therefore, within the enlighten project of Volunteering Program of TFCF, it was decided to support the children by providing an Art Camp opportunity and English courses.
Type of Work: You will be working with TFCF staff and local volunteers. Together with local volunteers, you would teach English and organize Art Camp for children from disadvantaged families, organize cultural exchange and some other activities (activities will be focused on main goal. Time of activities will be more than mentioned time).
Study Theme: Some skills and knowledge are essential to work with children from disadvantaged families and organize activities. Therefore, all the volunteers would have some trainings and group discussions about topics which are connected to your work camp. There are some topics, which are planned for the “study part” of your camp: • Aim, history and some general information about TFCF • Social work • Planning, organization and implementation • First aid • Kyrgyz culture • History of Kyrgyzstan and study tours to some historical places

Language: English. Russian is an asset, but not required
Requirements: - organization of the drawing lessons
-conducting English language courses
-help in additional programs of work with children

Notes: Despite all the information we give you here, it is important that you are flexible and act in a friendly and responsible way towards the group, the project members and children and the project itself. In a work camp, it is possible things do not go according to the original plan or to your expectations. It can happen that things are organized differently than described in the Info sheet. As this work camp takes place in a non-profit organization (who also works with volunteers) please, be open-minded and prepared for changes!
