Global Sustainable Development Goals (Sdgs)
Description: The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), otherwise known as the Global Goals, are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity. These 17 Goals build on the successes of the Millennium Development Goals, while including new areas such as climate change, economic inequality, innovation, sustainable consumption, peace and justice, among other priorities. The goals are interconnected aeuro( often the key to success on one will involve tackling issues more commonly associated with another. The SDGs work in the spirit of partnership and pragmatism to make the right choices now to improve life, in a sustainable way, for future generations. The goals provide clear guidelines and targets for all countries to adopt in accordance with their own priorities and the environmental challenges of the world at large. Realization of these goals by 2030 will depend on various factors on which Grassroots ownership is one of them. The
Type of Work: SDG advocate volunteers shall be expected to be engaged in the following activities:-UOTree planting and establishment of community Tree nursery: Planting trees is a great way to help sequester carbon emissions. Selected native trees species will be planted; this helps to preserve the environment and biodiversity. Planting will take place at the UVIKIUTAaeuro eco village and other protected biodiversity sites. For sustainable tree planting activities volunteers will engage as well in establishment of native tree nursery. By planting trees and amp; Tree nursery establishment during this program Volunteers will be helping provide wildlife habitats and amp; support biodiversity, Nutrition through fruits and medicinal plants, Plant native Tanzania/Coastal trees, Enhance the natural landscape, and offset CO2 emissions.UOSDGs Education and awareness: This activity aims to inform volunteers , community members and all targeted about Sustainable development goals, mobilize great support for
Accommodation: UOMeals: Three meals will be provide each day at the accommodation, host family or at the project. Vegetarian meals will be available. The team will include one kitchen supervisor to manage meals, however volunteers shall also be expected to help in meals preparation and dish washing.UOAccommodation: Basic accommodation facility will be provided in the community. Volunteers should expect sharing accommodation with other volunteers from the same or other projects. Electricity and water will be available. However no washing machine.
Requirements: UOQualities: Potential volunteer on this project shall be the one who is interested or who want to know more about local and international development issues. A person who is open minded, open to learn and contribute, informed about what is happening in his/her community and a bit globally.UOMotivation letter: ML should respond to the following questions; why would you like to participate in this project? Approximate Location: This project will give you an opportunity to explore what the Nature in this part of the world offers to you. Some options are:-UOExploring Zanzibar historical, natural and cultural sites. These include museums, local markets, stone town etc. Enjoy wildlife and marine life. Jozani forest National Park, Blue safaris swimming, tour to small islands, variety of water sports, spice tour among many other options.UONear Dar es Salam possibilities are; wildlife safari trips (Selous game reserve/ Mikumi National Park, Marine excursions (Mingoyo Islands) eco and cultural tourism activities, Bagamoyo or Kilwa, Dar es Salaam tour (Beach, Museums, and Markets).
