Description: This project is an initiative that wish to promote farming or gardening that relies on fertilizers of organic origin such as compost, manure, green manure, and bone meal and places emphasis on techniques such as crop rotation and companion planting. This project is aiming to improve skills for growing fresh and safe vegetables without use of any pesticide. To provide complete set of production technology including quality seedlings and potted plants and vegetables. This project is expected to be a demonstration site to promote kitchen/organic farming.
Type of Work: Volunteers engagement will include:Soil Building, Build the garden beds, Plant vegetable seeds and mulch, Build trellises and teepees for beans and tomatoes, Plant a herb garden, Putting various plants in pot, Fencing the garden.
Accommodation: Meals: Three meals will be provide each day at the accommodation including vegetarians. We will have kitchen volunteer responsible in meals preparations, however volunteers shall also be expected to help in meals preparation and dish washing. Accommodation: At the communal house in the community. Rooms will be shared between 3-4 people, no bed but mattress on the floor (Comfortable enough). Water and electricity will be available. No washing machine available.

Requirements: Potential volunteers are expected to be the ones who are: Interested in farming, nature and working outdoor. Open minded, flexible and eager to learn. Ability to work under less supervision
Approximate Location: Magole is a home of UVIKIUTA’ eco village development project. From Dar es Salaam city center the community is located about 35km to the south. The community is accessible from the city center through public and private transport. Most of important facilities like telecom signal, banking, shopping and health are accessible in the community.
Notes: Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays will be free for volunteers to do their personal activities including exploring what the region offer in terms of cultural and natural attractions. Possibilities are: Exploring Zanzibar historical, natural and cultural sites. Enjoy wildlife and marine life.Near Dar es Salaam possibilities could be; wildlife safari trips, cultural tourism activities.
Volunteers will be engaged in the project activities at least- 5-6 hours Monday to Friday. We will have some breaks and educational activities related to the project in the afternoons.
