Yunodake 2 (Fukushima)
Description: This project has been organized together with Iwaki no Mori ni Shitashimukai(IMS) since 2016. IMS start on October 3, 2001 at Mt. Yunodake in Iwaki city. IMS is a NPO maintaining forest and organizing activities there for children. They aim to revive SATOYAMA forest by citizen s. hands and they hope people enjoy satoyama safely and freely. IMS think it is necessary to know the forest and the soil which are the source of life to understand the essence of the environmental problem.
Type of Work: Volunteers will do various types of nature conservation works such as 1) cutting glasses and branches to improve ecological richness of the mountain 2) maintenance of nature walk course used for nature observation sessions and nature games for local kids. The contents of work might be changed due to weather condition, so volunteers need to be flexible
Accommodation: Volunteers stay a Japanese style room. Rooms for men and women. Cooking done in turns. All basic facilities are provided.
Requirements: Interest in Japanese culture and conservation of nature. positive attitude to physically demanding work in hot weather
Approximate Location: Iwaki City is a city located in the southern part of Fukushima Prefecture. It has the largest population and area in Fukushima Prefecture. Yunodake is located about 10 km southwest of the city center city.
