Type of Work: Niksar, which is on the UNESCO-World Heritage Tentative List, was the capital of the DanishmendDynasty in 12th. and 13. centuries. In niksar there are madrasas, lodges, mosques, administrativestructures, baths and memorial tombs belonging to this period. Volunteers will work to preserve andpromote these artifacts from the period of the Danishmend Dynasty. They will renew the informationsigns for visitors of Niksara, clean the environment and help with the landscaping of the protectedworks. In addition, volunteers will conduct digital media studies to promote world heritage siteslocally, nationally and internationally.
Accommodation: The volunteers will stay at the Niksar Municipality guest house. They will be served their breakfasts,lunchs and dinners in the dining room of the guesthouse. During trips outside Niksar, lunches will beprepared as lunch boxs. Meals will be prepared by the shef in the guesthouse, and volunteers willalternately help to prepare meals, wash dishes and clean the area where meals are eaten.
Approximate Location: Niksar, one of the important centers of the ancient period, Danishmend Dynasty and Seljuk period,where nature, culture and historical wealth mingled, was established on the slopes to the northwestof niksar plain, where the Kelkit Valley expanded. YaAA basan Madrasa in the city is the first madrasa inAnatolia besides the fact that the education given here has continued its effect on Anatolian soil forcenturies. The Lodges, mosques and palaces owned by niksar are giveinformation about how social and urban building is managed, how resettlement is conducted and howare the settlements is conducted during the settlement of OAuz tribes in Anatolia. Tokat is one ofthe cities of Turkey with unique beauties in terms of historical, cultural and natural aspects. Tokat isalso one of the advanced cities in terms of agriculture and livestock. Agriculture and livestockactivities are the source of the wealth of Tokat cuisine. In addition to tasting the flavors of Tokatcuisine such as Tokat kebab, Zile molasses, Zile KEme, Traditional cake of Niksar, GEzleme, Bat,PaAac, Kekek, Sucuk, and numerous soup varieties and many other types of dishes, In theworkshops to be held, they will also have the opportunity to learn how to cook and prepare them.
