Workcamp Details

Description: The aim of the project is to promote unity of youth in differences all around the world. Differences can make the world more interesting and richer. Exchanging it between youth will make new connections and friendship. Through the camp activities, as a mixture of workshops and manual work, volunteers will exchange ideas to promote tolerance and creativity. One of activity will be event for local youth by celebrating international youth day in 12th August. Camp will promote richness of diversity in culture and tradition between participants of the camp. Through the workshops, volunteers will learn about the importance of preserving of culture and tradition and exchange information about different lifestyles in the world, national songs and dances, habits, costumes and symbols.

Type of Work: we will present Serbian national heritage and costumes of the people from the countryside, and the volunteer can also participate. Workshops will include activities of promoting tolerance of national differences as something that unites people, breaking prejudices about different nations. In the second part of the camp, volunteers will prepare a part of the program for celebrating International Youth Day (12th of August) in the city, with local young people. Volunteers will prepare and present their counties as a part of manifestation. Other part of the manifestation will be artist program. Camp is a mix of workshops and manual work. During the morning, it will be activities of preparing of the program of manifestation, as well as arrange the courtyard of the Ecovillage.

Study Theme: In the free time, participants will learn how grow the plants, recycle, protect the nature, prepare healthy meals, do sport activities, walking through the village and spend time with local youth and kids from the village, by organizing workshops all together, or just to exchange about the youth activities of youth in their countries. Except this, it will be promoted interculturality, by promoting countries of participants of the camp: language, life style, history, geography, culture, costumes, famous persons and some specifics.

Accommodation: Volunteers will be accommodated in Ecovillage in Draca. Ecovillage is household of Association Interactive, established in 2019. The aim of this place is to promote environment protection for kids, youth and others, to promote volunteering, camps, non-formal education, more sustainable way to grow vegetables without pesticides. The house has 4 rooms, 2 kitchens (inside and outside the house), place for tents, terrace, and greenhouses for planting vegetables, toilets and showers inside and outside the house. Volunteers will sleep on beds in the rooms. Food will be prepared by hosts.

Requirements: There are no special requirements, but it is preferably to know something about national costumes, dances, songs.

Approximate Location: Camp will be organized in Draca, village 8 km far from Kragujevac, in central Serbia. Village Draca is geographical centre of Serbia, there is Ethnographic museum and orthodox monastery from 17th century. In the village live about 800 residents. All programs will be organized in household in Draca, planned to be first Ecovillage in central Serbia. First programs of Ecovillage will be implemented in 2019. It is near to the regional road, there is one shop and bus station near the place. During the camp excursion and city tours will be organized.
