Na Fir Bolg Solidary and Alternative Folk Festival

Description: Na Fir Bolg is a three-day family oriented alternative music festival organized in the Flemish Region of Belgium. The first edition of this festival was organized in 1996, as a fundraiser for several environmental organizations Through the years the festival grew. Nowadays there are two stages which provide a variety of local and international alternative music. About 10,000 visitors come during the weekend to enjoy the friendly atmosphere. The spirit of the festival didn’t change with the growth. People involved are all volunteers, committed to bring an alternative to the big commercial festivals. The profits of the festival still go to environmental organizations. This year the festival takes place from Friday the 1st of July until Sunday the 3rd of July.
Type of Work: Hard manual work. Volunteers will provide logistical help: setting up tents, installing water and electricity, installing fences around the festival grounds, stages, backstage, kitchen, bar, etc. During the festival: volunteers will be able to provide help and will have free time to attend the concerts and enjoy the festival! At the end of the festival: dismantling of the installations and cleaning; which will take about 2 or 3 days. The last 3 days will be devoted to cultural visits in the region and to some cities in Belgium.

Accommodation: Volunteers will be accommodated in a building located next ( cook for all the volunteers. Volunteers will need to bring a mattress and a sleeping bag. There will be bicycles available for them to move around.

Requirements: For all the volunteers wishing to discover the organization of a solidarity festival and not being afraid of hard manual work. Join this project not only for its festive aspect but also for the values it defends. Being able to get involved in the work, independently and despite the fatigue linked to the festive aspect.

Notes: Additional fee : Many SCI workcamps will have an additional fee of €50.00. This will cover - local hosting costs; International insurance costs of the volunteer; a small travel fund to enable disadvantaged volunteers to join projects; administration costs of SCI International. If you apply through an SCI branch the fee will be included in the fee you pay to your sending branch.
