2. Cookies
This website uses a session cookie to keep information on any choices you make or data you enter. A session cookie is a short string of characters used as a key to the actual information that is stored on our server. The cookie becomes invalid when you logout or after a period of inactivity and is deleted when you close your browser. If you disable the use of cookies by your browser you will not be able to make use of this site because the information we present depends on your country of residence and language choices, both stored using the cookie as a key.
We use Google Analytics to generate statistical information on the use of this website. The data are collected and stored by Google and presented to us in the form of report tables and charts. The data do not include any personal information.

We collect your personal data if you voluntary and intentionally provide it to us.
The information that we collect when you register on our site is necessary to apply for a voluntary project. Some categories of personal data may be marked as mandatory in our online forms. If you decide not to provide the personal data marked as mandatory, you will not be able to apply for the voluntary project you requested.

5. International data transfers
The information that you provide will be stored, processed and transferred between the countries in which SCI and its partner organizations offer voluntary projects.
Data will be certainly transferred to:

your sending organisation, that is the branch of SCI that receives your application and manages your application process.

your hosting organisation, that is the branch or partner of SCI that offers the projects you have applied for.

the project partner (if there’s one) that is the actual organiser of the project where you are accepted
The information that you provide may be transferred to other countries, including the United States and Japan that do not have data protection laws equivalent to those in force in the European Economic Areas. However, if you are a European citizen your data is still protected under the General Data Protection Regulation of 2018.
To participate in a Voluntary project you must agree to such transfers of personal information.
6. Security of your personal data
We intend to protect the integrity of your personal data. For this purpose, we will take reasonable technical and organisational precautions to prevent the loss, misuse, alteration, unauthorised use, access to or disclosure of the personal information received on our site.
You are responsible for keeping your password and user details confidential. We will not ask you for your password.
SCI will store your personal data for such duration as required for the generation of annual statistical data.

7. Policy amendments
We may update this privacy policy from time to time by posting a new version on our website. You should check this page occasionally in order to familiarize yourself with possible changes and to ensure you are happy with them. We will also actively inform you about major policy amendments as they arise.
8. Your rights
You have the right of access, free of charge, to the information about you that we hold, and to have erroneous information corrected. Requests for copies of the information we hold about you must be made in writing, signed, dated and accompanied by a copy of an identification document. Requests will be process by SCI within 30 days.
You also have the right to be forgotten, where we will anonymize your data after 3 years so that your personal data is no longer stored outside of statistics.
You may withdraw any consent you have previously provided to us, or object at any time on legitimate grounds, to the processing of your personal information. We will comply with your request as soon as possible and within 30 days.
