Diversity+ at the Farm
Description: The Camp will take place in “Quinta do Caimão”, a farm from a local association which focus it work on the integration and inclusion of people with disabilities. The farm lacks several fixes and improvements to make it more appealing to the people who work there every day, as well as to highlight its importance and recognition among visitors. AIMS:
- Promote diversity and inclusion among young people and people with disabilities
- Clean and recover equipment and infrastructures at Quinta do Caimão, dignifying the space for the community and visitors
Type of Work: - Cleaning and painting walls and fences

Cleaning and painting gates

Painting an Artistic mural related to the Farm’s work at the main entrance building

Cleaning and recovering water norias

Cleaning and recovering animal stables

Clearing the landfill

Animal treatment (e.g.: brushing, cleaning feeders, etc.)

Building small equipment using hand tools (e.g.: compost bins, shelves, etc.)

Developing an activity involving the local community

Shopping for groceries, cooking and cleaning the place where the group will cook and eat (breakfast and dinner)
Study Theme: Volunteers will be able to learn by experience, improving their knowledge and reflection about common living, cooperation, collective decision making, conflict management, cultural diversity, and solidarity. They will develop their intercultural skills, communication skills and autonomy. Moreover, they will learn how to manage a collective budget and plan meals for a large group of people. They will also learn about disability and will acquire practical knowledge related to the manual tasks performed.
Accommodation: Accommodation will be in the local Youth Hostel. Volunteers will have shared bedrooms and toilets and need to bring sleeping bags.
The camp includes 5 meals: breakfast; morning snack; lunch; afternoon snack, dinner, and evening snack. With exception of lunch, meals will be prepared by volunteers individually and in cooking teams. Internet from the Youth Hostel will be available
Approximate Location: Lousã is a small town (17.000 inhabitants) surrounded by mountains, natural and cultural heritage, located 30Km from Coimbra. The accommodation will be in the center of the town and work activities will take place in a village nearby.

Do not use taxi for long distances (as it might be very expensive). If you plan your arrival for very late, contact us instead
