Workcamp Details

Description: The workcamp is organized in cooperation with an NGO Farmstudio, an independent cultural centre located on a historic agricultural farm in the village of VysokEU in the Kokorin region. Farmstudio focuses on contemporary live art and culture in connection to cultural and natural heritage. They organize international art residencies, contemporary art exhibitions, creative workshops and multi-genre cultural events. The area is undergoing a gradual reconstruction of the cultural and historical buildings without any subsidies or other support from public sources. The goal of the workcamp is to help with this reconstruction. At this workcamp, you will actively contribute to the achievement of UN SDG11 Sustainable Cities and Communities.

Type of Work: Work will be diverse and manual, you will be able to choose according to your interest and physical abilities. The tasks will include plastering, woodworking, renovation of wooden and metal elements, painting, mowing the grass, landscaping etc. Please bring clothes that can get dirty and/or damaged, good shs, a cap to protect yourself from the sun and a raincoat for rainy days. The work takes place in the same area where you will be accommodated.Study part: Farmstudio presentation of its history, development and vision; a photography workshop; a lecture on contemporary art and a lecture on sustainable construction.

Accommodation: The complex includes a residential building, a gallery building (former granary), a studio building (former stables and barns) and two uncovered buildings of former barns. You will sleep in the residential building in two big rooms with 14 beds, blankets and sheets are available. There is also a kitchen, 3 toilets and 2 showers. You will cook all your meals together as a group, preferably vegetarian. Wifi is available, but the connection might be weak.

Requirements: This workcamp is suitable for volunteers with hearing impairments/deafness, mental health issues, restricted movements - in a wheelchair (only active and otherwise physically fit person) and with other lighter types of disadvantages such as economical, social or health-related. The parental authorization is only required for volunteers that are less than 18 years old at the beginning of the workcamp. Due to the limited outgoing resources of INEX-SDA, we kindly ask participants to contribute 10 EUR towards the costs of the general incoming administration of our workcamps. The fee will be collected upon arrival. Please note that this fee ds not directly contribute to the workcamp budgets.

Approximate Location: Location: Farmstudio is a former farm in the village of VysokEU located 8 km from Melnik, close to the protected landscape area Kokorinsko. The village is a place with a population of about 1000 inhabitants, there is a grocery store, pastry shop, two churches, a post office and a pub near the football pitch.
