Summer with Theatre (Integration of Refugee Children in Kalisz)
Climate for Peace Programme
Description: Kalisz is a city in west-central Poland and one of the oldest and most beautiful cities in Poland. Alike other Polish citites, Kalisz now hosts many refugees from Ukraine, primarily women and children.
This year MULTI.ART association from Kalisz in cooperation with the Bogusławski Theater will organize summer theatre workshops for a mixed group of local Polish children and Ukrainian children who moved to Kalisz fleeing the war in Ukraine. Children are 9-13 years old and live in the same neighbourhood now. The aim will be to reflect on the idea of change, tame the new reality, form new bonds and integrate.
Children will participate in creative acitivities run by professional artists and cultural workers in a community house run by MULTI.ART in their neighbourhood.
Type of Work: Children will take part in impro and drama workshops, art workshops, space design and guerrilla gardening workshops. During 2 weeks of workshops they will create and prepare a final art event (a theater performance or other) which will be presented on 23th of July for the open public.
The tasks of the volunteers will be:
- to support educators in organizing workshops for Polish and Ukrainian children;
- to assist in creating and installation of scenography and decorations for the final performance;
