Esc Army Handicamp
Description: This workcamp takes place in the town of Nymburk and in a small village of Jizbice (Central Bohemia region) in cooperation with the local NGO Center for All. This year, Center for All celebrates 17 years of organizing free-time activities and summer camps for children and youth with and without disabilities. The activities take place in a reconstructed barn with a beautiful garden in Jizbice and in the headquarters of the organization in Nymburk. The aim of the workcamp is to help the Center for All to prepare and run a summer camp for people with or without disabilities.
Type of Work: The aim of the workcamp is to bring together Czech and international volunteers, people with or without disabilities, younger and older people - just all ! Volunteers will cooperate with Czech assistants and help their fellow disabled campers with daily tasks such as dressing, eating, personal hygiene and participation in the camp program. During the camp (13.-21.8.2022), volunteers might work longer hours, nevertheless, there will be enough time for rest and trips before and after the camp.
Study Theme: Study part: Volunteers will learn about different types of disabilities. Through their trained campleaders, they will get to know how to assist the people in their daily life. Volunteers will have a chance to learn some basic Czech phrases ( which will be helpful during the camp).
Accommodation: Before and after the camp In Nymburk you will stay in an international scouts centre Tortuga (Center for All headquarters) ( in rooms on mattresses in your own sleeping bag). There are 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, a dining room and a big garden. You will prepare your own meals as a group. During the camp in Jizbice, you will sleep on the mattresses in big tents in the garden. There is a bathroom with toilets and showers at the campsite. You will eat all together, all meals will be provided by the local partner. Please bring a sleeping bag, a sleeping mat and a torch. WiFi is available.
Language: Please bear in mind that some of the Czech participants might not be able to speak english. You will learn more on how to communicate in an environment with barrier language.

Approximate Location: International scout centre Tortuga in Nymburk - before and after the camp. A campsite in the village of Jizbice (8 km from the town of Nymburk). The campsite in Jizbice is located in a garden with a big barn. There is a playground, forests and an outdoor swimming pool.
