Recovery of old roads and dry stone building elements and discovery of an unusual valley in the Pyrenees
Description: BalmesBlancs (www.balmesblancs.com) is an association that started its activity by organizing thematic experiences in nature with the aim of knowing the environment in different topics, such as: canyoning with geology, snowshoeing with learning snow , trips to the sea with knowledge of marine fauna, etc. From 2013 the entity began to manage the Vall de Siarb Refuge (www.refugivalldesiarb.com), a rural accommodation located in the village of Llagunes (Pallars Sobira), a town located on the southern slope of the Port del Cantó , 12 km from Sort, which meant that from then on its activity in this valley, the Vall de Siarb: excursions to get to know the Pallars Front during the Spanish Civil War, knowledge of ancient rural life in the Pallars Sobirà, geology of the Pyrenees etc.
Type of Work: The technical work that will be carried out in the field of work consists, in general, in different related tasks with improving the paths of the Valley. The maintenance of the paths is a way of maintaning the history of the place and the its culture, as they were used by the people of the villages in the area to go to their fields and other villages.The main ork that will be done is:
- Clearing paths
- Rebuild the dry stone wall sections
- Remove stones from the path
- Improvement of paved sections
- Improved signage with paint
Accommodation: The accommodation will be at the Refuge Vall de Siarb. It's located in the village of Llagunes, a beautiful small village of 15 habitants. There are comun spaces like kitchen and dining room. Two showers and twotoilets are provided, a multipurpose room and bedrooms with bunk beds or single beds.
Language: The language of the camp is in English, in order to keep the environment inclusive for all.

Notes: Additional Fee of €50.00
This fee will cover - local hosting costs; insurance costs of the volunteer; a small travel fund to enable disadvantaged volunteers to join projects; administration costs of SCI International.
If you reside in a country where there is an SCI branch and you apply through the SCI branch the fee will be included in the fee you pay to your sending branch. If you apply through a partner organisation you will pay the fee on arrival at the project; direct to the hosting SCI branch or through different payment platforms.
