Workcamp Details

Description: Since 2000 we have had volunteers around the world joining our summer programs which were designed around building sustainable vegetable farming facilities. Over the years we have learned that developing eco-friendly and sustainable farming facilities does require learning the best practices from local farmers for enhancing crop quality and perseverance despite the setbacks which were imminent in the harsh Mongolian continental climate. We are hoping to transform our eco-friendly vegetable farming facility into a sustainable organic farming training center that teaches low-income families how to grow healthy greens on their own. We plan to donate any crops from our facilities to families in need and provide them with the knowledge of how to grow their own crops.

Type of Work: Main work is helping at the eco farm through our work such as removing the weeds in the field, working in the greenhouse, making water canals for the farm, making compost, etc. Quite tiring but let's enjoy it—also, some actions of Greening Asia (Asian action to protect forests), etc.

Study Theme: Eco farming methods/know-how of other countries. Presentation of your country to introduce to other volunteers.

Accommodation: Ger (Mongolian traditional tent) or summer house. Please bring a sleeping bag. A mattress will be provided. Volunteers will cook/clean by turn. Music player and some card and board games are available. The shower is available too.

Requirements: To like farming/physical work and being flexible/ adaptable.

Approximate Location: Altanbulag sub-province, Mongolia. Beautiful typical Mongolian landscape area and life, 45 km far from Ulaanbaatar

Notes: Ulaanbaatar. One-third of the population in the country (3.3 million) live in this capital city. Don't worry about the weather it will be around 20-25 degrees hot. But still, sometimes the weather could be changed quite. Also during the free days of the workcamp we will help you to organize some cultural exchange programs, excursions, etc
