The Buddhist Tara International Kadampa Retreat Centre - Preparing for a National Dharma Celebration Event
Description: Tara International Kadampa Retreat Centre was founded in 1983. It is set in the beautiful grounds of Ashe Hall and 38 acres of mature parkland and is a major Retreat Centre for Modern Kadampa Buddhism. The year round programme of residential and non-residential courses and events is open to all and caters for every level of experience from basic meditation classes to in-depth courses and retreats.
Tara IKRC hosts the annual United Kingdom Dharma Celebration, one of the largest Kadampa Buddhist events in the UK.
Open Wednesday to Sunday our popular World Peace Café and Book and gift shop attract many day visitors and we offer free Lunchtime meditations on Monday and Thursday in our beautiful Main Meditation Room. Everybody welcome!.
Type of Work: You will help prepare for the national Dharma celebration (a Buddhist Festival) at a Buddhist meditation centre in the heart of England, Derbyshire. We are expecting in the region of 350 attendees for the festival. We will need help setting up chairs inside the marquees, dormitories and accommodation, cooking and cleaning.
We are a residential community; volunteers will be working alongside our own volunteers and residents.
Volunteers typically work 5-6 hours per day and have 2 days off (sometimes the day off may not be consecutive, depending on the schedule)
Study Theme: You will have the opportunity to participate in meditation classes and a talk about Buddhism and meditation.
Accommodation: Same sex shared dormitory facilities, not mixed.
Requirements: We are looking for people who are respectful and interested in Buddhist life. What we value most in team members is a positive attitude, enthusiasm and the ability to work well with and inspire others.
Approximate Location: Ashe Hall in Etwall, Derbyshire.
