Art & Cultural community in Calcata medieval village
Description: Calcata is a small medieval hamlet located in the basin of the river Treja above a tuff rock. The inhabitants hailing from Calcata are now living in the so called Calcata Nuova, nearby the place. In the medieval hamlet are living people and artists from all over the world who chose Calcata as new home. The informal group "Calcata da vivere" is composed by people who live in the hamlet, whose purpose is to promote social relations and participation. In addition, the group wants to contribute to the cultural and civil growth of the entire community. The goal of this project is to bring together the different groups that populate the small Calcata, promoting participation and working together to reset some areas of the Park and to the patron.
Type of Work: During the camp period, there is the Patron Saint Day of Calcata. In the feast young people are engaged in recreational and creative activities in which the volunteers would bring an international contribution.
The collaboration between the two groups will also be encouraged through activities and workshops on interculture and art (element that has characterized the repopulation of the hamlet).
The Treja Valley Park Institution gives full availability in the co-management of the project, so the volunteers will work together. The planned activities are:
- Help in cleaning the trails
- Help in providing pathways with signpost
- Supporting for the Feast of Calcata
- Workshops on Calcata community and its relationship with art
Study Theme: The study activities will be focused on the historical reconstruction of the village according to an artistic and cultural perspective. The first phase of the study: The art as a characteristic element of the inhabitants who have repopulated the village from the 70s
The second phase of the study: an international comparison about the topic of art as an element that unites and helps to create communities and to promote intercultural perspective
Accommodation: The volunteers will be hosted in a house neare the hamlet. They will sleep in common (female/male) rooms. There will be provide bathrooms bed and mattresses. In the House there are three with shower and kitchen.

Notes: Please kindly note that there is an additional incoming fee of 50 Euros for all volunteers applying through Partner organisations or Contacts of the SCI network.
