Cleaning green area of the Convent of S.Maria di Gesù in Palermo
Description: In july there were severe fires in Sicily and Palermo was hit in the heart (29 families displaced). Santa Maria di Gesù is a locality in the municipality of Palermo where there are the church, the convent of the fourteenth century and the ancient monumental cemetery. The church was badly damaged by the flames and many works of art were lost, including the ancient wooden ceiling. The camp is born from our collaboration with the Municipality of Palermo (civil protection department), the Municipal Council for Peace, the Friars Minor Community, parish Maria Ss.delle Grazie, association Legambiente Palermo Futuro and Regional Forestry Corps and it wants to represent a testimony of solidarity of international volunteers to the Sicilian city.
