Solar-Power (Lellwangen near Lake Constance)
Description: The aim of our association Zukunftsweise e.V. is to build a non-profit learning centre in which alternative ways of life and economy are researched and practiced and a constructive coexistence is to be learned and lived. The focus now, is on construction & the effect of energy-self-sufficient micro-solar networks, which are necessary for a sustainable energy industry at the moment. This method represents an innovative approach - as an alternative to fossil or nuclear electricity from the public grid. Each unit has its own energy storage & inverter. The stored energy is either consumed directly in situ or stored. If a unit consumes more energy, the electricity from another connected unit is used. This flow of electricity can be measured.
Type of Work: In this workcamp we are constructing a self-sufficient solar power energy system with energy storage facilities. This system is a possible way of creating resilient energy supply in a decentralized manner keeping private energy supply in a more personal responsibility compared to a centralized energy network run by big company. Additionally, natural gardening tasks will contribute to a varied working experience with many fields of learning.
Study Theme: We will look into further uses of solar power for energy usage and warm water heating. We will use the most modern techniques and materials for our solar power network and solar shower system, looking into batterie storage, heat pump systems and solar thermal moduls for hot water production. We will be learning about permaculture principles, natural gardening, biodiversity and future resource and energy usage ways. SCI, Solar-Panel building, Solar-Micro-Network building, Solar-Shower building, experiencing nature, Permaculture, Connecting culture, Non-Violent Communication, Free Learning.
Accommodation: In your own tent (please bring your own sleeping mat and sleeping bag). Outdoor kitchen, toilets, shower. The volunteers will take turns in cooking for the whole group. So be prepared to cook for the others. But don’t stress about it, after all it is teamwork and you won’t be left alone. This is also a great chance to get to know delicious dishes from many other countries. The workcamp will have a so-called “work camp budget”, which is given to the camp coordinators in order to buy groceries.
Language: english, german
Requirements: - your own tent (please bring your own sleeping mat and sleeping bag)
