Integration Centre for Children - Summer in the City in Warsaw
Description: The Integration Centre for Children and Youth "Stokrotka" in Warsaw creates a safe space for around 20 children from disadvantaged backgrounds. It brings together Polish children as well as those from ethnic minorities, including Roma, Ukrainians, and Georgians. The center addresses its activities to pupils aged 6-13. This workcamp gives children a unique opportunity to meet people from different countries and to spend their holidays in an interesting and engaging way. Our aim is to boost their self esteem and self confidence, encourage them to speak English and create a space where they will be able to learn more about other cultures and traditions.
Type of Work: Volunteers will help organise activities for approx. 25-30 children from the centre as part of the “Summer in the City” programme. They will co-lead activities, animations and workshops. The work will involve active communication with children and conducting educational activities. Supporting educators and tending to children are among the main tasks of a volunteer during this workcamp. The programme will cover subjects ranging from education, integration to sports activities, arts and crafts. There will also be one day excursions (e.g. to a swimming pool, Warsaw sightseeing ) during which volunteers will be tasked with assisting the employees’ of the centre in supervising children.

Accommodation: Volunteers will sleep in a two-storey house of 140 m2.. Upstairs there are three double rooms, two bathrooms, downstairs there is a large living room and a kitchen and bathroom with a shower. There is a large balcony and a large garden. Kitchen is fully equipped (fridge, cooker, etc.). As for sleeping, there are several bunk beds and mattresses . There is a large wardrobe for clothes and two sofa beds in the living room.

Notes: Please remember that the insurance from SCI is not valid during your trip to and from the workcamp and it covers ONLY the period of the camp! Volunteers from EU must bring their European Health Insurance Card. Please kindly note that there is an additional incoming fee of 50 Euros for all volunteers applying through Partner organisations or Contacts of the SCI network. This fee covers hosting costs, insurance, a small travel fund to enable disadvantaged volunteers to join projects and administration costs and is to be paid on arrival at the project or online directly to the hosting branch. For volunteers coming through SCI Branches and Groups there is no additional incoming fee.
