Kataskinosi Camp (pateras Mountain)

Description: The workcamp is organized in cooperation with Happy Children-Happy Youth Camps (https://kataskinosi.gr/), a Non-profit Volunteers’ Organization with 92 years of action. The volunteers will help the Camp staff in hosting 140 children with disadvantaged background (families with financial and social problems).
Type of Work: Preparing meals, kitchen cleaning (main tasks!). The kitchen operates with two shifts, one in the morning and one in the evening, to ensure smooth functioning. Each shift should have 5-6 people. Kitchen schedule: Morning shift: Breakfast preparation, kitchen cleaning and lunch preparation: 08.00 am to 09.30 am. Snack: 10.30 am. Lunch preparation and kitchen cleaning: 12.45 pm to 15.45 pm. Evening shift: Snack and possible future meals preparation: 16.45 pm. Dinner preparation and kitchen cleaning: 19.45 pm to 22.15 pm. Main tasks of the vols: Meal preparation, Cut bread, Prepare desert (fruit), Prepare dinnerware, Prepare cutlery, Dish washing (with professional washing machines), Perform kitchen cleaning tasks. Cooking is not done by volunteers but by a professional cook.
Study Theme: The volunteers will get a close look in how a children’s summer camp that is supported only by volunteers can be organized. The volunteers will learn how social and educational support is provided to the children during the summer camp.
Accommodation: In big tents for 8-10 people provided by our organization (own tents not necessary), bring a sleeping bag. The volunteers will spend the entire period at the camp.
Language: Greek speakers are welcome
Requirements: Volunteers shouldn’t have health problems that prevent them to work in a kitchen

Notes: No drugs, no alcohol allowed. Transportation to Eleusis or Athens will be possible at free days. There is no access to internet. Mobile access is limited.
