Orto di comunità - Community garden
Description: The farm "AgriTermine", thanks to the experience of more than twenty years of one of its members, has started to develop an innovative project of orthotherapy for two years. Unlike other experiences that have brought the garden, agricultural work, in "closed" communities to create new and rich relationships for disadvantaged people, this project has the ambition to build an "open" community around a community garden starting from the awareness that the need for quality relations concerns the whole population and is always connected with the relationship that we are able to establish with the Earth. In line with these principles, the project combines the principles of synergistic agriculture and the application of orthotherapy as an educational tool for the whole community.
Type of Work: The planned work will be manual and agricultural, concretely following the orthotherapy project carried out by the partner association and encouraging intercultural exchange between the volunteers themselves and between the volunteers and the host community. Volunteers will support the guests of the community with the developing of the agricultural work organized for the orthotherapy project. Some specific activities could be: preparation of synergistic cultivations, construction of sustanaible irrigation system, light joinery with recycled materials for the construction of tables, benches, etc.
Study Theme: The study part will focus on the deepening of horticultural therapy and the work around a community garden as an innovative activity capable of promoting the development of an open society, with benefits for guests of the community and external guests, in a relationship of respect with the Earth. Volunteers will also access to an equipped riding stable and a horse farm with innovative and less stressful training methods for animals, discovery of the world of bees, meetings with the cultural group "rate dansoire dij tre canton" for learning Occitan culture and folk dances.
Accommodation: Possibility to sleep in tents (provided by us) or if you prefer in the house (3 double rooms and possibly a dormitory style living room). We will provide the necessary for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The preparation of meals will take place in collaboration. There will be shifts of 2-3 people who will prepare the meals of the day, to be agreed together after initial meeting on the first day of the camp. The internet connection is present, with the limits of connections in a country environment. There’s Wi-Fi available and the ability to share our cell phone connections.
