Let’s build an Iberian house - experimental archaeology
Description: We’re witnessing rapid changes in our environment & the protagonists of it ought to be locals aiming to keep it alive & attractive to live in through sustainable land cultivation. In ART we engage in 4 areas: Culture: we grew out of our care for culture, to recover the history and heritage of our region Urban environment: We defend responsible and sustainable growth in the Natural Park Territory:We collaborate with hiking centers and protect nature by cultivating natural forests and agriculture Infrastructures:We create good quality infrastructures to prevent the depopulation of the region; by reconstructing one of the houses in the Iberian site of Morranda (now benifassa) using experimental archaeology you can better understand the Iberian world. https://www.instagram.com/artbenifassa/
Type of Work: The work will be mostly manual and it will consist in the clay construction of a replica house from the Iberian period, using experimental archaeology techniques. We will have the support provided by a collaboration with technicians in biodynamic construction and two others in experimental archaeology.
Study Theme: As the study part we will talk about culture of peace, inequalities, feminism and iberian culture. All of that can be related with the archaeological field as a way of looking at the world bringing the past into the present. Activities during the Study time related to the Ïber's world¨ and the compulsory visit to the cave paintings. This year there will be an artistic instalation by Josep Vallribera an artist and poet so there will be a space for artistic learining and sharing. Other activities: Traditional dances and local customs food and culture.
Accommodation: Accommodation will be provided in a shared house of the village Ballestar.
Language: The camp language is in English, but nevertheless knowledge of the local language (Catalan) might be of help for better communication with the locals.
Requirements: No special skills requiered to attend the camp.
