Description: Assist in planning creative daily programs for children in holiday care and enjoy an adventurous summer with them! For over 30 years, SCI:Moers has been actively supporting youth in Moers in various ways. This summer, SCI:Moers will offer a holiday childcare program for children aged 6-10 who are not traveling during their summer break. Over several days, groups of up to 20 children will come together to participate in a diverse range of games, sports, and leisure activities. The program, running Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 4 PM, includes excursions, sightseeing tours, art projects, swimming pool visits, and much more.

Type of Work: Organize engaging leisure activities for children and support the staff in managing the groups.

Study Theme: Get to know youth work and the German school system. Free time: Explore the sights of Moers, including the historic Moers Castle with its large park, the charming old town, an old watermill owned by SCI:Moers, and a local zoo.

Accommodation: Camp beds are available at the SCI:Moers facilities. Please bring a sleeping bag and a pillow. A shower, toilet, large kitchen, and common room are also provided. Lunch is provided within the respective groups, while self-catering is available in the kitchen at SCI:Moers.

Language: The children in the holiday activities mainly speak German, but knowledge of German is not required. This is a great opportunity to test and improve your German skills. It can also be fun to practice non-verbal communication with them. During the workcamp, you and your group can decide whether you want to practice German with each other or speak English.

Requirements: Motivation to work with children for long hours, bringing your own ideas for games and leisure activities to life. The children primarily speak German and hardly any English. Communication between you will mostly be nonverbal in the first few days, but you will be surprised at how well it works.

Organization Description: This workcamp is organized by the German branch of Service Civil International (SCI). SCI Germany was founded in 1946 and is approved as a non-profit organisation. We are one of the oldest peace and volunteer organisations. SCI Germany aims to promote peace, non-violence, international solidarity, social justice, sustainable development and cross-cultural exchange through international voluntary work. We cooperate with a network of branches and partners in more than 90 countries. Every year, SCI Germany organizes about 50 international workcamps in Germany.
