Description: Over the past fourteen years, the World Heritage Volunteers (WHV) initiative has grown significantly due to the growing interest and appreciation for the protection and preservation of World Heritage sites. For the fourth time, an international volunteer camp will be heldat the former convent of San Francisco de Asís in Calpan.
Type of Work: The volunteers will continue the work of painting parts of the convent. This year volunteers start paiting part of the façade the cloister with lime and repairing some damaged elements. They will also help clean some of the posa chapels found in the atrium of the former convent. They will have the opportunity to make a presentation about the heritage of their country/state for students and the local population and will conduct a survey for the site's management authorities by interviewing tourists and community members. They will visit symbolic places in the municipality and discover the gastronomic heritage of this magical place.
Study Theme: RESTAURATION AND CONSERVATION
Accommodation: Volunteers will be accommodated in a house with all facilities. Volunteers must bring a sleeping bag.
Language: SPANISH, ENGLISH
Requirements: Interest in cultural heritage issues and ease of adaptation to collective dynamics. Bring materials from your country or state, as well as some traditional items to show the local population about your culture. Be open to learning and recognizing the values of others and be willing to work as a team and participate in community life.
