Description: Berlin is world-known because of its tolerance, freedom and vibrant nightlife. Under these conditions, sexual health promotion and HIV prevention are of greater importance and there are several projects in Berlin working on these topics carrying out information campaigns and prevention activities in clubs, parties and at different events. The project takes place at the offices of “manCheck”, which works with & for the target group MSM (men who have sex with men). The main focus of “manCheck” is to provide information about HIV, STIs (sexually transmitted infections), the different strategies of protection regarding HIV infections and harm reduction concerning party drugs. The volunteers will be trained in HIV and STIs prevention through workshops.
Type of Work: Supporting the prevention project in their work and outreach actions (e.g. creating info-material, planning, organizing and conducting a prevention action).
Study Theme: Study HIV/AIDS epidemic in Germany, Ukraine and worldwide, introduction of prevention strategies, health, safer sex, safer use, STIs, outreach work. Volunteers will have the possibility to join the prevention team in its work in the gay scene of Berlin. In addition, the volunteers will have the chance to visit and get to know the work of other prevention projects that work with other target groups (sex workers and drug users).
Accommodation: Hostel, basic conditions. The volunteers will take turns to cook for the whole group.
