Event set up and sharing experiences – Zabok 2020
Description: The purpose of the camp is community development, solidarity, and intercultural understanding. The project is important for youth to become involved in the community and for local and foreign volunteers to exchange their experiences. Activities will enrich the content of the community, will encourage the development of community and solidarity between different people, regardless of nationality, skin color, gender, religion, therefore it wants to encourage acceptance of each other. The project is firstly intended for youth, but also for everyone interested. Volunteers and the community will benefit from it. During the camp, volunteers will organize and implement Intercultural events, participate in the volunteer actions in the community and sports tournaments.
Type of Work: Activities that volunteers will be doing on the camp are: assist and support in the organization and implementation of the Intercultural events, participate in the volunteer actions in the local community, and participate in sports tournaments. Volunteers will do the following work: photograph and film the events, communicate with participants, prepare and arrange space, stick posters, work on event promotion, prepare the materials, paint and express in a creative way, help organize Youth Center, organize a program for Intercultural events and participate on it. The materials for the implementation of activities will be provided. At the end of the camp volunteers will fill out the evaluation. Volunteers will work 6 hours per day and they will have 2 free days.
Study Theme: For the volunteers, a presentation will be organized about the Network of associations Zagor, about the partner organizations, about the local and regional community with a focus on Intercultural events and volunteer actions. The study part will be on the first day of the camp so that volunteers can get familiar with the environment, with the work of the association, with the camp and activities and, also with the group. A Good practice study will be conducted, where both local and foreign volunteers will exchange experiences together.
Accommodation: The accommodation will be in a house in Zabok, max. 15 minutes from the office and 5-10 minutes from the center of the town. It will contain two bedrooms (possibility for the separate rooms for men and women), kitchen and bathroom. The accommodation will be for 5 volunteers and camp leader for 14 days and 13 nights. Volunteers need to bring sleeping bags. Camp leader and coordinator of volunteers will go with the volunteers to buy food and groceries so volunteers will be able to cook for themselves.
Language: Working language on the workcamp is English. Although one part of the population in Krapina-Zagorje County doesn´t speak English, during the implementation of activities volunteers will always have somebody who speaks English and Croatian so they won't have any problems in communication.
Requirements: Volunteers will have to send an application and write a motivation letter with a brief explanation of why they would like to participate. Age limit for volunteers is 18-35. One part of work will be physical work – carrying the necessary materials for volunteer actions and Intercultural events, organizing a Youth Center, but it will not be hard physical work.
Approximate Location: The location of the camp will be in Zabok - accommodation and one part of the activities will be in Zabok, and the second part of the activities will be held in the area of Krapina-Zagorje County. The town of Zabok is located on the southwestern edge of the Krapina-Zagorje County and is only 30 km away from the capital city of Zagreb, with good connections. Zabok itself is small with a population of only 9.365 inhabitants. The town has an important strategic and geopolitical position. In the social activities, it is already a prominent educational center.
Notes: Volunteers will be asked to cook together, perhaps a different couple each day. They will try to prepare traditional dishes from the country they come from to present their tradition and to get to know about the food habits of other participants. Zabok has many large shops in the heart of the city, so it is easy to get the ingredients they will need.
