Workcamp Details

Description: The Panta Rei Cooperative manages centers that host people with intellectual disabilities, with the main objective of building with them paths of autonomy and social integration. The guests of the center will place different activities like garden-therapy, sports and manual laboratories. The objective of the workcamp is to allow all guests to socialize and perform different activities together. The center is located in the Piedmont countryside in the hills of Monferrato and close to the main cities of Turin and Asti.

Type of Work: The volunteers will carry out daily activities with the guests of the center, especially garden-therapy (not only vegetable production but also taking care and maintaining the green areas and forests), repair work, manual laboratories, excursions, games and socialization with them.

Study Theme: Gardening therapy and its benefits, issues concerning the social and community daily life for people with intellectual disabilities; knowledge of the history and culture of the place.

Accommodation: The volunteers will be hosted in a different house apart from the guests of the center. The volunteers will sleep in rooms and the spaces of the house will be mixed between genders. The house is equipped with a kitchen and a bathroom with a shower. The volunteers will often eat with the guests of the center, meals will be prepared by health workers and by volunteers who will help them.

The volunteers will be responsible for cleaning the spaces in which they sleep and they will have to bring sleeping bag and personal towels.

Language: English

Requirements: Required relational, socialization, animation and adaptation skills. Part of the work will be based on agriculture and environmental knowdlege and could be difficult for people who are not physically prepared.
